Remarks

• Closely related to Scaeochlamys livida and Chlamys farreri .
  
  

  	Scaeochlamys livida (Lamarck, 1819) most specimens are found from North Australia 50-70 mm in height, rather elongated pecten left valve with 9-12 ribs covered with large erected scales between the main ribs are very weak (if at all) developped secondary radial ribs. The concentric grooves are more developped in the interspace between the main ribs especially on older (bigger) specimens. These concentric ridges are less developped on S. squamata and C. farreri right (lower) valve little less convex compared to left valve
  	Scaeochlamys squamata (Gmelin, 1791) mostly found from Japan and the East China Sea 35-60 mm in height, more round shape compared to S. livida 5-8 broad and rounded ribs with less and smaller scales compared to S. livida and C. farreri more prominent smaller ribs in the space between the main ribs left (upper) valve more convex compared to the right valve
  	Chlamys farreri (Jones & Preston, 1904) mostly found from Japan and the East China Sea biggest of the 3 specimens, about 60-90 mm in height left (upper) valve little more convex compared to right (lower) valve rather variable in number of ribs (15-25), with a lot of small but sharp scales hard to separate from Scaeochlamys squamata
